CLINIVET® Adult Light
For the overweight adult dog of any age
Some dogs have a tendency to put on excess weight, particularly during the senior years. Weight gain occurs when more calories are consumed than what are used. The excess calories are converted to fat and stored under the skin, or around the vital organs (heart, kidney and liver).
Problems associated with carrying excess weight There are increased risks associated with carrying excess body weight, for example, overweight dogs are more prone to problems with their cardiovascular, respiratory and skelatal systems, they are more likely to die younger than their leaner counterparts and they show the visible signs of aging earlier.
Factors contributing to obesity Obesity can be a result of overfeeding, a genetic predisposition to put on excess weight or because of hormonal disorders. Of these three causes, the easiest one to control is that of overfeeding. You should seek advice from your veterinary surgeon if you suspect your dog may be putting on weight because of the latter two reasons. CLINIVET® Light has been specially formulated with the overweight dog in mind. CLINIVET® Light contains 20% fewer calories than CLINIVET® Adult Junior, meaning that you can feed approximately the same amount of food to your dog without it feeling hungry after mealtimes. A mix of carbohydrates from whole brown rice, maize and oats means energy is released slowly throughout the day, so your dog feels fuller for longer.
Perfect for dogs with itchy, dry skin Dogs are frequently taken to their vets suffering from skin complaints like dry, itchy skin or hotspots. The cause of these skin problems is usually related to their diet. Allergic reactions, or food intolerances, generally tend to be to wheat, dairy and soya products, so if your dog does suffer with a skin complaint, examine the ingredients list carefully for any of the above culprits. It is also important to note that many companies hide these ingredients under the term 'meat and animal derivatives' or 'derivatives of vegetable origin'. None of the CLINIVET® products contain these ingredients, and we can confidently declare this on our packaging. If your dog does suffer from skin problems, changing the diet to CLINIVET® Light should greatly improve the condition of the coat and skin.
